What’s been happening at
Beeches Cottage Nursery?
Garden Open Day 2016.
Many thanks to everybody who came along on Sunday 31st July 2016 to our Open Day under Scotland’s Garden Scheme. The weather was fantastic and many of you commented on the wonderful atmosphere on the day. We were delighted to raise the grand total of £1726 for charity! A great big thankyou to all of the people who helped us out on the day - we couldn't have done it without you!
Hardy Plants Society - Scottish and Northern Borders Group visit.
Our thanks go to the many members of the H.P.S. who came to look around our gardens and nursery. Thankfully the weather was kind to us all and everyone was able to sit in the sun enjoying their tea/coffee and cake whilst watching the ducks on the pond. We hope you enjoyed your visit as much as we enjoyed having you all here!
Review of the above visit taken from the November 2014 edition of Northern Leaves
" It was really easy to find the nursery because so many signs had been put up for us - satnavs were not required. What a warm welcome awaited us from the moment we were guided into parking spaces in a nearby field specially cut for the occasion, and then to the very generous hospitality provided in one of the polytunnels by Margaret and her helpers! On our way to the coffee and cakes we passed pens with a great variety of interesting chickens, ducks and geese.
Steven introduced their nursery and garden by telling us how they had turned a field into the magnificent nursery which exists today. The gardens were well planned with lots of colour - many of the interesting plants were for sale on the nursery.
There were also borders within the nursery itself which gave further publicity to what was on sale. The nursery was exceptionally well laid out, exhibiting healthy and interesting plants. One of the features which we greatly appreciated were the descriptive labels for each group of plants.
Some of us felt that we were having to rush away for lunch when we could happily have spent longer browsing around the gardens and nursery ".
GARDEN SOCIETY VISITS - 2017.
Beeches Cottage Nursery was visited throughout 2016 by many Garden Clubs and Societies, some who came during the day and other groups at night. Can we take this opportunity to thank you all for your visits and the fun and laughter that you brought with you to the nursery - it is people like yourselves who make all that we do here worthwhile!
We are more than delighted to show groups/associations around the nursery and if given prior warning we can lay on tea/home baking - please telephone or e-mail to discuss how we can make your visit memorable.
During the summer we use one of our fields as an overflow car park (please note this is grass and only borrowed from the sheep) - however this would mean a walk of about 100 metres through our newly planted woodland. If anyone has mobility issues please let us know and we will make arrangements to get you parked at the house.
